Plant Collections
One of my favorite sources of natural pattern is plants. I mean, come on! Have you ever looked at the delicate veins of a leaf? Tried to pick out all the shapes within a tree in full bloom or followed the stripe on an orchid’s petals? It’s extraordinary. The patterns leaves make on a plant as a whole or the patterns they display on their surfaces can keep me hooked forever.
Over the years, I’ve gone in different directions of painting plants. This page is a good hub for the various collections, though I also have a separate page now for my fall leaves called “Autumn’s Glory” which is pretty self explanatory. Enjoy a digital walk through my plant gallery!
Isolated Elements Collection
This collection stands alone in my catalog of work. I painted these gorgeous natural elements each isolated on a field of white. When there’s nothing else around them, you really notice all their gorgeous details and expressive shapes.
I originally exhibited the collection at the Park Point Art Fair in Duluth, Minn., but since then they have made their way around my community in coffee shops, offices and restaurants.
I used acrylic paint on canvas as well as gouache on paper in the collection. While most of these originals have been claimed, some are still available and most have prints in my shop as well.
