The side of my house is covered in Virginia Creeper, an ivy that creates layers of beautiful leaves. In the fall, they turn to purples, reds, oranges and pinks. This painting celebrates both the natural patters of the leaves layered on top of one another and the colors of fall.
With this series, I wanted to explore the wide spectrum of colors that come out of these leaves in the fall. For each painting, I start with a different base color and let that base influence the color decisions I make through the process. The result is that each piece has a very distinctive mood and energy. Each one is named with the color starting point.
