This lichen painting gives you an up-close look at a very small, very beautiful organism. The curves and branches of this particular lichen brought antlers to mind, hence the name. I took photos of this lichen in the Sax-Zim Bog of Minnesota and applied my own color sense to it. There’s a definite playfulness to the curves of the lichen and the tiny “budded” tips. The edges are painted a bold cobalt, which is also where you can find my signature.
