There are so many levels of intricate pattern in this painting, from pebbled skin to bat-like flying shapes in the background. Drawing imagery from an octopus tentacle, it goes into a surreal space with gorgeous hues all around.

This piece is part of a series of work I painted that celebrates the natural patterns of octopi. I played with making new compositions from elements of pattern in the animal and bold colors.
